Services for Physicians

Medication Consultation & Management

  • A single visit, which includes a comprehensive evaluation by a board-certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician and a consultation report. The report will include recommendations for non-medication treatments and non-opiate medications for your implementation. When appropriate a justification for ongoing opiate prescriptions and recommendations for narcotic monitoring will be included.

  • Multiple visits, including the comprehensive pain evaluation above, followed by 2 to 3 months of medication adjustment to optimize pain control, any necessary diagnostic studies, e.g., MRI, EMG, and/or injections or other procedures. The consultation report will detail the plan for non-medication treatments, non-opiate and opiate medications, and procedures to facilitate communication with the patient.

Copies of all diagnostic and/or treatment procedure notes will be forwarded immediately. During the period of medication optimization all opiates will be prescribed at Southern Pain Specialists.

Once the patient's regimen is stable, they will return to your care.

  • Multiple visits, including all services detailed in Levels 1 and 2.

Once the patient's regimen is stable, they will return to your care, except for any ongoing opiate prescriptions. All opiates will continue to be prescribed at Southern Pain Specialists.

Non-opiate prescriptions will return to your responsibility. If a need for change is observed, a recommendation will be forwarded to your office for your review and implementation.

  • Ongoing chronic care, including all services detailed Levels 1, 2, and 3.

All pain-related medications will continue to be prescribed at Southern Pain Specialists, including opiate medications.

Periodic reports will detail any changes in plans for non-medication treatments, non-opiate and opiate medications, and procedures to facilitate communication with the patient, but all responsibility for implementation and monitoring will remain with Southern Pain Specialists.
